New Delhi: Looks like actor Sushant Singh Rajput is keen on experimenting with his roles. In his short career span of six movies Bollywood, he has played a lover boy (in Shudh Desi Romance), a detective (Detective Byomkesh Bakshi) and a cricketer (in yet to be released Dhoni: The Untold Story).
And now, if reports are to be believed he might play an astronaut soon. Grapevine is rife that SSR has been roped in for Chandamama Door Ke, a sci-fi movie directed by Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan.
Chauhan had garnered a lot of appreciation for his 2010 sports drama movie Lahore. The story revolved around the duel between Indian and Pakistani kickboxers and earned rave reviews from the critics. Sanjay was also felicitated the Indira Gandhi Award for Best First Film at the National Awards.
Reportedly, this sci-fi movie traces the story of astronauts who set out in space to complete a mission allotted to them by India.
An excited Sushant told a leading daily that he felt blessed to be a part of such a grand scale movie. He said,
"It promises to be an epic film that has not been attempted before and I'm really excited to be a part of it.”

It is being suggested that Chauhan has done a lot of extensive research for this movie and plans to helm something which Bollywood has never seen before. He was quoted by a leading daily as,
“Our story isn't based on anyone in particular but is inspired by multiple incidents that occurred in the past. It traces the journey of India's space programme and culminates with the country's first astronaut landing on the moon in 2017-18.”
As soon as this news broke, Twitteratti got in a happy mood. Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan started trending on Twitter and netizens said that they are finding it hard to wait for the movie. Check out few tweets here:
To give this movie a real touch, the makers have reportedly got in touch with the technical team which has worked in Hollywood blockbusters like Star Trek, Apollo 13 and Armageddon.
Given the scale at which this movie is being made, this will definitely add weight to Sushant’s acting resume.
A few days ago, it was also reported that superstar Aamir Khan’s next is a biopic on astronaut Rakesh Sharma. Sushant’s portrayal, will thus, not escape comparisons from Aamir himself. Let us see who the better astronaut, on screen becomes.
