In a move that could boost private domestic carrier SpiceJet’s branding and ancillary revenues, the airline is believed to be in talks with Bollywood actress Sunny Leone to sell her brand of products, perfumes and deodorants on flight.
“We have had a couple of meetings on the issue. She is very keen to sell her perfume and deo range, Lust, n board our airline. She is also keen to collaborate with SpiceJet for a line of products from clothing to lingerie and travel-centric products in partnership with SpiceJet Merchandise Pvt Ltd,” Economic Times quoted an executive in its report as saying.
The actress, as part of their meeting, also visited the company’s Gurgaon office in the second week of January.
SpiceJet Merchandise Pvt Ltd is a wholly-owned subsidiary of SpiceJet, headed by Manjiv Singh. The report cited sources claiming that Singh and Sunny had a couple of meetings on the issue.
It is believed that the move will boost the airline’s ancillary revenue, which is about 16 per cent of its total revenues.
Moreover, the airline is also trying to pump the ancillary revenues through other moves like door-to-door cargo service, where SpiceJet provides last mile connectivity for the cargo carried by the airline.
SpiceJet Merchandise is the business arm for consumer merchandise and goods that will include electronic items, readymade apparels and accessories.
The subsidiary also engages in the business of various goods, including readymade apparels, through in-flight sale, online platform, airport shops and retail outlets.
