New Delhi: Box office clash between two big movies often garner a lot of attention. Remember the craze when Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dilwale’ and Ranveer Singh’s ‘Bajirao Mastani’ came face-to-face last December.
A similar clash was expected at the box office in 2016 as well between Salman Khan and SRK.
It was believed that Salman’s ‘Sultan’ will be clashing with King Khan’s ‘Raees’. However, much to the audience’s disappointment, the clash was averted after SRK postponed the release of ‘Raees’ to January 2017.
While it raised a lot of eyebrows, everyone was speculating as to what made Shah Rukh delay the release of his movie.
In fact, it was also rumoured that ‘Raees’ was postponed because of ‘Sultan’.
And now Salman Khan has opened up on the issue and put all the rumours at rest.
“I don’t think so. The film was not ready,” Salman told an entertainment portal when quizzed if SRK delayed the release of his film fearing a clash with Sultan.
He further added, “And I think two big films should not clash... it’s a loss for distributors and exhibitors. It’s nothing to do with Shah Rukh, or me, but it’s the loss of distributors and exhibitors. We do not have so many theatres and screens to release two films together. Our industry is really not growing this way. We need more screens to have two big releases on the same date.”
Earlier, King Khan too had made a similar statement rubbishing reports of any tiff with the ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ star because of this box office clash.
Currently, Salman Khan is gearing up for the release of ‘Sultan’ opposite Anushka Sharma. Directed by Abbas Ali Zafar, the movie will hit the screens on Eid next month.
