New Delhi: Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s ‘Sultan’ has hit the theatres and is minting crores with every passing day. The movie was one of the most avidly awaited movies of the year and looks like it is doing justice to all the expectations of the audience.

The movie has been in the limelight since its inception and bagging a lot of attention much before its release.

Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, ‘Sultan’ also features Anushka Sharma in the lead role.

It’s been just three days of release, and ‘Sultan’ has already shattered EIGHT box office records.

Highest opening day grosser of 2016

Salman Khan’s ‘Sultan’ did a fantabulous business on its opening day. The movie earned Rs 36.54 on its day of release. The movie became the highest opening day grosser of 2016 so far. Earlier the position was held by Shah rukh Khan’s ‘Fan’ which collected Rs 19.20 crore on its first day.

Highest earning sports-based film

The Salman Khan starrer also became the highest earning sports based movie. So far, Farhaan Akhtar’s ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ was one of the biggest grossers in this theme with a lifetime collection of Rs 103.50 crores. But ‘Sultan’ has crossed the lifetime collection of the Farhaan Akhtar starrer.

Salman Khan’s biggest opener

‘Sultan’ is having a majestic run at the box office. The Salman Khan starrer earned Rs. 105.34 cr in first three days. With such huge figures in three days, the movie created another record. Now ‘Sultan’ has become the highest opener of Salman’s career so far. Earlier the position was held by his 2015 release ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, followed by ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’

Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the first three day collection of the three movies.

Salman Khan’s 10th Movie to enter into coveted Rs 100 crore club

With such huge collections, ‘Sultan’ has entered the coveted 100 crore club in just three days of release. The movie collected Rs 105.34 cr till Friday. Interestingly, this has become Salman’s 10th movie to cross the magical number, which is the highest number for any Bollywood star.

Anushka Sharma’s biggest opener

‘Sultan’ also created a record for its lead actress Anushka Sharma. The movie has turned out to be her highest opening grosser. So far, it was her 2104 release ‘PK’ opposite Aamir Khan, which ruled the list of her successful movies with a lifetime collection of Rs 331 crore nett.

Biggest Eid Opener

With a commendable collection of Rs 36.54 crore on is first day, ‘Sultan’ has now become the biggest Eid opener. Earlier, it was Shah Rukh Khan’s 2013 Eid release ‘Chennai Express, that was topping the charts in this category with an opening day collection of Rs 33.10 crore. It also surpassed the record of ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, which had collected Rs 27.25 crore on day one.

Highest Collection on a Wednesday

Directors often avoid making mid week releases as it tend to affect the business of the movie. But this was not the case with ‘Sultan’ as it got a stunning opening on its day of release. So far, Salman Khan’s two movies have been released on Wednesday - ‘Sultan’ and ‘Ek Tha Tiger’. While ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ collected Rs 32.92 crore on day one, ‘Sultan’ managed to beat it with a collection of Rs 36.54 cr.

YRF’s Highest Opener

Last but not the least, ‘Sultan’ has become the highest opener of Yash Raj Films. The record was earlier held by 2013 release ‘Dhoom 3’ which collected Rs 36.22 cr on day one. But the Salman Khan starrer has managed to crash the record of ‘Dhoom 3’.
