After the biggies of Bollywood including Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor, Ayushmann Khurrana and Alia Bhatt posed with a sanitary napkin in their hands, it was Anushka Sharma and Varun Dhawan’s turn. The Sui Dhaaga co-stars shared a picture on their social media, grabbing a sanitary pad in their hand. Extending their support to Akshay Kumar’s PadMan challenge, they wrote, “@varundvn & I just hanging out, holding a pad, no big deal, just another regular day.”

They further nominated Karan Johar, Katrina Kaif and Tiger Shroff for the PadMan Challenge. Both of the actors nominated the same three names after discussing. Before them, Padmaavat actress Deepika Padukone shared a video, holding a pad in her hand. Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor and Aamir Khan also shared a picture with the same intentions.

Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao featured in a short video which shows them asking people to shun the taboo around menstruation. They wrote, “@rajkummar_rao & I are just out here hanging out in a chemist’s shop holding a pad.

Yes, that’s a Pad in my hand & there's nothing to be ashamed about. It's natural! Period.”

TV actors Mouni Roy and Karan Tacker also joined the movement. This challenge is circulating on social media ahead of PadMan’s release. As the movie is based around menstrual hygiene and menstrual taboo, the movement is intended to abolish the taboo around something as natural as periods in India.

Akshay Kumar’s film PadMan is scheduled to release on February 9th, 2018. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte. It has been helmed by R. Balki.
