Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer Stree did wonders at the box office. The horror-comedy helmed by debutant director Amar Kaushik has been received well by the Indian audience, who have long been deprived of good horror-comedy films in Bollywood. Also, the massive box office figures also suggest that Rajkummar Rao is the real crowd-puller of the box office, when provided with the right script. Despite three releases this Friday, Stree stands strong and managed to rake in Rs 4.39 crores at the box office.
Stree Box Office Collection Day 8
Tweeting about the day 8 collection of Stree, trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh wrote, “#Stree withstands the opposition from new Hindi releases... Expected to witness big growth on Sat + Sun... Should cross ₹ 75 cr on Sun [Day 10]... [Week 2] Fri 4.39 cr. Total: ₹ 64.78 cr. India biz”
Interestingly, this Friday also saw the release of a horror film The Nun, which was highly-anticipated among the Conjuring Universe fans. The Hollywood horror film is attracting good number of people to theatres, as tweeted by Taran Adarsh.
“Horror monopolises the marketplace... #Stree [last Friday] and #TheNun [this Friday] - riding on the positive goodwill of #TheConjuring - are attracting audience in hordes... Of course, #Stree has a generous dose of humour... Horror is the new Hero!”
On its day 1, Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer Stree managed to rake in good numbers, also thankfully owing to zero clashes at the box office. On its opening, it earned Rs 6.83 crore, which is great number for a low-budget film helmed by a debutant director.
Stree Movie Review
Our film critic rated Stree 3.5 out of five stars. She wrote, “Stree plays well with both the genres being spooky and funny at the same time. However, ghostly moments are less but we don't have any complaints as the cast compensates it with their perfect comic timing. Pankaj Tripathi is an absolute delight to watch on screen and his entry in the movie is enough to evoke laughter. There is nothing this man can't do and with his third collaboration (After Bareilly Ki Barfi and Newton among prominent ones) with an equally talented leading man Rajkummar Rao, he assures to treat you in a surprisingly pleasant way. Pankaj, in the role of a shudh Hindi-speaking librarian, who is researching on Stree, has some of the best lines. He will leave you craving for more. Performances of other supporting actors are also top-notch, be it budding talents like Aparshakti Khurrana (Ayushman Khurana's younger brother) and Abhishek Banerjee or Atul Srivastava, who plays Vicky's father.”
Stree released on big screens on 31st August, 2018.
