The veteran actress Sridevi's mortal remains consigned to flames. Ever since Sridevi breathed her last in Dubai, Bollywood is coping hard to come to terms with the fact that she’s no more among us. The huge loss that Indian cinema has suffered on the fateful night of 24th February is too big to be recovered in just few days. For years to come, the songs and movies of Sridevi will linger on our mind, reminding us of the legacy she left behind. In the span of 50 years of her film career, Bollywood’s Chandni gave us more than this single lifetime could contain.
The late actress’ mortal remains were clad in vibrant red sari, followed by tricolour. There was a peaceful air on her face, as she was lying down in her deep slumber. Bollywood celebrities including Sanjay Leela, Deepika Padukone, Rekha, Hema Malini reached the Celebrations Sports Club in Mumbai to offer their last homage.
After paying her last respects to her amazing colleague, Hema Malini took to Twitter to pour her heartfelt emotions in a series of tweets. She wrote, “Paid my last respects to Sridevi. The entire industry was there grieving, some on the verge of breakdown. Such was her aura & magic in films. She lay there, beautiful in a red saree, serene in death & totally at peace.”
Continuing her tweet, she wrote, “Arrangements were so well made that the whole atmosphere was tranquil, everything was smooth & executed with finesse - befitting the departed soul. Goodbye dear friend.”
On Tuesday as well, Hema Malini spoke at lengths about the loss of Bollywood on losing a prodigy like Sridevi. She wrote, “The whole film industry is trying to come to terms with this tragedy. We have lost a wonderful member whose life has been dedicated to the entertainment field for so many decades. It is only right that we be allowed to grieve in peace.”
The actress was wrapped in tricolour to honour the contribution she made to our entertainment industry and to our nation.
