Bollywood style icon Sonam Kapoor donned a Cher-inspired psychedelic look for her first appearance at Cannes Film Festival to mark the singing sensation's 71st birthday.
The "Believe" hitmaker, known for bold fashion choices, turned 71 on Saturday.
And Sonam, who is here to walk the red carpet of the 70th Cannes Film Festival as the ambassador of the global cosmetic brand L'Oréal Paris on Sunday and May 22, took to Instagram to wish the star in a series of posts.
Sonam captioned one of the images of Cher in which she is wearing a psychedelic outfit: "'Until you're ready to look foolish, you'll never have the possibility of being great. I've always taken risks, and never worried what the world might really think of me' Cher Happy birthday my icon. You inspire me as an artiste everyday. Fashion icon, art icon, psychedelic."
The "Neerja" actress then wrote: "'I don't know what else I would be if I wasn't me. I am not looking from the outside, looking back. I am who I am.' Cher. Fashion icon, art icon, psychedelic, happy birthday."
In another post, she wrote: "Someone once said 'The only thing that will be left after a nuclear holocaust is Cher and cockroaches.' I think that's funny, because, you know, I am a survivor. If I am anything, that's what I am. Cher The original!"
The wishes and admiration for her fashion icon come after Sonam's post from Cannes where she sported a creation from NorBlack NorWhite brand.
She donned a psychedelic sari with its pleats neatly tucked in the center and the pallu brought in front over her right shoulder. Along with the hand dyed sari, she wore a white mesh net blouse and cotton lycra sports bra.
She wrote: "In Norblack Norwhite, Loreal make-up, Loreal hair, Loreal Professionnel, life at Cannes."
