Filmmaker Hansal Mehta, deleted his Twitter account and interestingly returned within few hours to the social media platform and thanked viewers for the response. In his tweet he said "Thankful for both the love and criticism coming our way. Simran is an unconventional film about an unusual character. I'm very proud of it".
The release on Simran observed a decent response as crowds eagerly waits for new releases. After a slow start, Simran picked up the momentum gradually making Rs 2.77 cr, Rs 3.76 cr, and Rs 4.12 cr over the weekend. Monday saw a dip in collections as is the norm. The rest of the weekdays look worrying for Simran. The total collection of Kangana’s film now stands at Rs 12.06 cr whereas the film is made on a budget of Rs 30 crore. If the film is able to bag collections over 30 crore, it will be a hit. Simran was fighting the box office battle with Farhan Akhtar starrer Lucknow Central. The total collection of Kangana’s film now stands at Rs 12.06 cr.
Hansal also tweeted, “Since so many people are speculating about me deleting my twitter a/c here I am.”
His latest release Simran featuring actress Kangana Ranaut received mixed reviews from critics. The movie minted Rs 10.65 crore in its first weekend. Kangana was lauded for her performance but the film didn’t turn out to be a blockbuster like Queen.
Kangana’s explosive interviews before the release of the film are not hidden from anyone. The lady ignited controversies when she openly talked about her relationship with actor Hrithik Roshan. From Aditya Pancholi to Karan Johar, Kangana spared no one. Singer Sona Mohapatra called it a publicity gimmick.
Hansal defended his Simran saying that it was not good to connect film’s promotions with Kangana’s personal life. Now, the film is released and the verdict is here and nobody knows what forced Hansal to delete his account.
