Shraddha Kapoor, who started the year with Half Girlfriend opposite Arjun Kapoor, is set to impress with a never-seen-before avatar in Haseena Parkar. The biopic made huge headlines when its trailer was released. Based on terrorist Dawood Ibrahim's sister Haseena Parkar, the film, is now scheduled to release on September 22. This means that Haseena Parkar will now have to battle it out with Sanjay Dutt's comeback film Bhoomi, which is also releasing on the same date.
Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film features Shraddha Kapoor in the title role. Shraddha's brother Siddhanth will portray the role of Dawood Ibrahim, while Ankur Bhatia will essay Haseena's husband Ibrahim Parkar. The film was earlier due to release on August 18, but the date was shifted to avoid clutter.
The makers "wanted to get a better release date as there has been a lot of hard work, research and thought put behind each and every scene of the movie", read a statement issued on behalf of the producers on Wednesday.
"As a director, it is very important for me to ensure that the film reaches out to maximum audience as it takes a lot of patience and perseverance to make a film on a subject like this. We are all set to release on September 22 and hope the audience loves it as much as we loved working on it," Lakhia said. The film has been produced by Nahid Khan with Swiss Entertainment.
Haseena Parkar is directed by Apoorva Lakhia and will portray Shraddha in a totally different avatar. The actress will be seen donning different looks as her character ages. She will be sharing screen space with her real-life brother Siddharth Kapoor, who will play Dawood Ibrahim in the film.
Speaking about the film, Shraddha recently said, "I think it's one of most different roles of my career so far for sure because I think I have played more positive characters, and this is first character which is more grey shaded. I hope people can see (my) conscious effort of playing something different."
