Vishal Bhardwaj’s Haider (2014) was the last film in which we saw Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor share screen space. The duo’s Jodi was liked by the audience and it will be exciting to see both the stars collaborate yet again for a flick.
A lot of news has been abuzz regarding the leading lady to star opposite Shahid Kapoor in his upcoming film Batti Gul Meter Chalu. The film is helmed by Toilet: Ek Prem Katha director Shree Narayan Singh and is greenlit by KriArj Entertainment.
Now, as per recent reports of a leading daily, the makers of Batti Gul Meter Chalu are in talks with Shraddha who is in the running to be paired opposite Shahid in the movie which will see both the characters play lawyers.
The first choice for the role was Katrina Kaif for this Shahid starrer but due to date issues, Kat had to back out from the project and now it seems it has landed in Shraddha’s lap. A source revealed, “The makers recently got in touch with Shraddha. She has been briefed about the role. The producers were looking for an A-list heroine to be cast opposite Shahid, who plays a lawyer in the film. However, it will require some prep. Katrina couldn’t sign the film because she didn’t have the time to do so’’, the source added. Batti Gul Meter Chalu is about a common man’s fight against power distribution companies.
Shraddha Kapoor had a not so great 2017. The actress had three films releasing last year but none of them managed to set the ticket windows rolling. But that hasn’t stopped Shraddha from bagging more films in her kitty. The actress, who is shooting for Saaho with Prabhas, also has the Saina Nehwal biopic on her slate this year. So, if Shraddha does take on this project, she will have a very strong line-up to boast of.
Coming back to Batti Gul Meter Chalu, the film is slated to release on August 31, 2018.
