Last week, Bollywood witnessed one of the biggest clashes of this year as ‘Shivaay’ and ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ hit theatres on same day- October 28. Much had been written and discussed about this box office battle. Now after a week of the clash, actor Ajay Devgn has said that the better movie will perform in the long run.

While speaking to a leading daily, Ajay said both movies are doing well. He said it was expected that before Diwali, the box office numbers would be dull but it was not so.

“There was a huge jump on Monday. In the long run, the better film will sustain,” said Ajay.

The box office collections of the both movies in the first week have made the multi-starrer ADHM the winner. Since the release, ADHM has minted Rs 80.19 crore and ‘Shivaay’ Rs 70 crore. Overseas too, ADHM is doing tremendous business and is expected to join the coveted Rs 100 crore club by end of coming weekend.

Now this statement by Ajay seems on a lighter note than his earlier ones. Before the clash he had reportedly said that he can handle all (Karan Johar, Aditya Chopra) with his little finger.

Speaking on the reception the movie received, Ajay said that for him his daughter Nysa’s compliment meant the world. He added that Nysa is usually not a fan of her work but loved ‘Shivaay’ and so did his wife actress Kajol. Ajay revealed that Kajol was impressed by the movie’s grandeur.

Ajay went on to say he is glad that through ‘Shivaay’ he touched the hearts of viewers. He said people told him they walked out of the theatres with moist eyes, smiling lips and hugged their children.

“To touch audiences emotionally is rewarding,” Ajay added.

‘Shivaay’ had Ajay don many hats. He was the director, co-producer and also acted in it. When asked if the process was tiring, Ajay said being a producer-director is difficult than director-actor.

“When you visualise a film in a particular way but are unable to execute it due to monetary constraints, it becomes tough,” said the 47-year old star.
