Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s film Thackeray is released today. After director Abhijit Panse’s video showing him walking out became viral on the internet, another report has surfaced that Shiv Sena workers in Mumbai have vandalised a theatre as it did not display the poster of the film. The film which stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Amrita Rao in important roles, released on Friday.
Pictures showing some Shiv Sena workers protesting inside the theatre premises were shared by ANI agency on Twitter.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Thackeray has remained in controversy from the word go. When the trailer was released, many celebrities including his Gangs of Wasseypur co-star Richa Chadda commented on the actor playing the role of controversial politician Bal Thackeray. Mumbaikars are celebrating the film's release with loud music and dance outside the theatres. Carnival Cinemas Imax Wadala was decked up with flowers and lighting to celebrate the release of Thackeray.
Recently while speaking to media, actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui spoke on why he chose to play Balasaheb Thackeray on the silver screen. He said, “"I love doing challenging roles. With each film, I want to try something new. I hate doing roles in my comfort zone... I want to be a versatile actor. Now I look upto only new, different and challenging roles for me.
You have got only one life, try experimenting new things... and that's what I want to do.”
