Sridevi, who was last seen in the 2017 film Mom, was to feature in Karan Johar’s production venture Shiddat. However, her sudden demise left everyone shocked and, earlier reports had it that KJo had decided to shelve the film. Now, Shiddat is back on track and, Madhuri Dixit Nene has replaced Sridevi in the film. The news was confirmed by none other than Sridevi’s eldest daughter Janhvi Kapoor, who is all set to make her Bollywood debut with Dhadak opposite Ishaan Khattar.

Taking to her Instagram account, Janhvi shared a picture of her mother Sridevi along with Madhuri Dixit. “Abhishek Varman’s next film was very close to mom’s heart …. Dad, Khushi and I are thankful to Madhuriji for now being a part of this beautiful film”, the caption read.

Shiddat, is a partition drama, and its idea germinated from Karan Johar’s father, late Yash Johar., according to a Mumbai Mirror report. However, it remained an unfulfilled dream till Karan handed over the project to Abhishek, who has helmed Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor’s 2 States. Sources close to Janhvi revealed that the filming would begin from next month.

Earlier reports said that Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan were also a part of Shiddat. However, both Alia and Varun denied the reports saying they have no idea of any such film.

"Which movie? Who told you that? We don't know any such movie exists" said Varun. Alia, who has worked with Varun in Student of The Year, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania, added: "Who told you that? I don't know about such movie."
