Ranbir Kapoor is on a killer spree! After winning adulations for his unbelievable physical transformation in Sanju, the actor has been roped in for another high-octane drama Shamshera. The 35-year-old actor is experimenting with different genres and this time he’s all set to stun the audience as a Dacoit in Karan Malhotra’s Shamshera. With the announcement itself, Shamshera got our excitement level hitting the roof as it would be the first time Ranbir Kapoor is portraying a hideous character on silverscreen. We were so used to seeing the actor as a happy-go-lucky guy in movies that Shamshera and Sanju came to us a welcomed respite.
Another report has raised the excitement for Shamshera. It’s official that Sanjay Dutt will be playing a monstrous villain against Ranbir Kapoor in the film. Before Shamshera, Dutt has made a lot of noise for his despicable character ‘Kancha Cheena’ in Agneepath. With that one role, Sanjay Dutt has raised the bar for the Bollywood baddies. He’s still remembered as the most formidable villains of Bollywood movies.
Sanjay Dutt is counted as some of the most memorable Bollywood baddies in the industry. While the veterans like Amjad Khan, Amrish Puri and Pran enjoyed a long and outstanding inning in the Bollywood villain class, Sanjay Dutt increased the level of evilness by several notches with Agneepath.
Announcing the news, Yash Raj Films’ official Twitter handle wrote, “We've got an ultimate casting coup! Our upcoming action adventure #Shamshera has a roaring villain against #RanbirKapoor. It's the one & only #SanjayDutt | @duttsanjay | @karanmalhotra21 | @ShamsheraMovie.”
On the footnote, Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt coming together for a film has created a lot of noise among cinephiles. For the uninitiated, Ranbir Kapoor is playing Sanjay Dutt in Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanju. Now for Shamshera, makers have pitted the ‘reel life’ Sanju against the ‘real life’ Sanju, which is going to be a entertaining and thrilling act to witness.
However, you’ll have to wait for some time to see this spectacular phenomenon on silverscreen. Shamshera will go on floors by the end of this year and expected to release sometime around mid-2019. A long wait, isn’t it? After all, all good things take time.
