New Delhi: Based on substance abuse in the state of Punjab, the upcoming movie of Shahid Kapoor has already started making all the right noises. Boasting of an ensemble cast including Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt and Diljit Dsoanjh, the movie is directed by Abhishek Chaubey.

While the film awaits release on June 17, it already has one achievement to its name. On one scale, the crime thriller has surpassed superstar Salman Khan’s ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’.

According to media reports, Udta Punjab's music rights have been sold for whopping Rs 18 crore. This makes it the biggest deal in the history of Bollywood.

A source told a leading daily,

“The last time we heard of a record-setting contract was for Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, which is a crore less than this one. The Udta Punjab album has a new-age Punjabi vibe to it and the makers hope to strike a chord with music lovers.”

PRDP’s music was composed by Himesh Reshammiya and Amit Trivedi has woven his magic for ‘Udta Punjab’.

The first song ‘Chitta Ve’ was released a few days ago and the foot tapping number has gained popularity among masses. Let us wait for other songs from the movie to see if they continue the trend.

As of now, ‘Udta Punjab’ has taken the right steps towards being a blockbuster.
