New Delhi: Actor Shahid Kapoor has made a humble request to his fans and asked them to not watch the leaked version of his upcoming movie ‘Udta Punjab’. The leaked version of this Abhishek Choubey’s directorial has posed new problems for the filmmakers.

After a bitter battle with the Central Board of Film Certification, ‘Udta Punjab’ is due for release on June 17 but before that the film somehow got leaked online. To control the damage, the film’s co-producers Anurag Kashyap and Ekta Kapoor reportedly knocked the doors of cyber crime cell of Bandra police station, earlier this evening.

Now, doing his bid to ensure the film suffers less, Shahid Kapoor put out heartfelt tweets for his followers.

Here is what he tweeted:

Not only Shahid, filmmaker Karan Johar too urged cine buffs to go to theatres and watch the neo noir drama.

Here is what he tweeted:

"Udta Punjab" was in news after the censor board suggested that the makers alter the movie by 89 cuts. Later, it went to the Revising Committe, which brought it down to 13 cuts. However, the Bombay High Court on Monday gave the drug-themed movie a green signal for release after making just one cut and inserting three disclaimers.

The bone of contention for the CBFC was that "Udta Punjab" was showcasing Punjab in a poor light, with a highlight on its festering problem of drugs.

“Udta Punjab” stars Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Diljit Dosanjh.
