New Delhi: Abhishek Choubey directorial ‘Udta Punjab’ is one hot topic of discussion these days.
The movie has grabbed a lot of attention lately, thanks to the controversy between the makers and the Censor Board. But apart from this legal battle, it is the star cast of the movie which is also grabbing eye-balls.
‘Udta Punjab’ features Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt and Diljit Dosanjh.
While it is the first time Kareena and Shahid are doing a movie post their break-up nine years ago, the ‘Haider’ actor is sharing the screen space with Alia for the second time.
And if the reports are to be believed it was Shahid who had recommended Alia for the movie.
Alia Bhatt herself revealed how Shahid roped her in for ‘Udta Punjab’ and how thankful she is to him.
“He would constantly talk about the movie while shooting for Shaandaar but he hadn't said that I want you to do it. He would say 'I'm doing the film'. So I didn't get the hint and he didn't give as well. I also think, that he must have decided over time that may be Alia will be interested and I am really thankful to him, that he really thought I could do the role. Which is why he gave me the script, though initially as a friend to read it, but later he asked me if I am interested in playing that character. I told him 'But nobody has asked me'. He said, they will come to you only if you are interested. I said 'Of course I am interested' and that is how it happened,” Alia told an entertainment portal.
Interestingly, the actor had also recommended ‘Bebo’ for the movie.
“Actually, I never wanted to recommend Kareena because I was scared thinking about how people will perceive that again. When I was narrated the film, I thought of Kareena even before Alia. The role that Kareena plays, I felt she was just perfect for the role,” Shahid was reported saying earlier.
Based on the substance abuse in Northen part of the state and its effects on the youth, ‘Udta Punjab’ is all set to hit the theatres on June 17.
