The Shah Rukh Khan starrer sci-fi superhero flick Ra.One released in 2011. The venture was highly appreciated for its VFX and was a successful venture at the box office. Now, the director of the film Abhinav Shukla has spilled the beans about a possible sequel of Ra One.
"Shah Rukh and I keep talking about it. But I don't know, nothing's happening for now. It's never easy to make a sci-fi film. But I know someday, over a drink, we will jump into it. It's on his mind and it's on my mind too," he told a leading publication, admitting that it was "not an easy movie to make".
“We keep meeting, we are good friends, and we have many things to discuss beyond films,” Sinha says.
Ra.One, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan in the lead roles, was the most expensive film Bollywood had ever seen, back in 2011. Shah Rukh had earlier said in an interview that he would like to take the franchise forward.
Ra.One, a film that made use of a massive budget, garnered mixed reactions from the audience. With sci-fi and superhero films becoming increasingly popular in India, perhaps a sequel will do well. But it’s not in the pipeline at the moment.
On the work front, Shah Rukh Khan will be seen next in Aanand L Rai’s Zero, which also stars Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif in lead roles.
