Shah Rukh Khan is known to inspire billions, but little does anyone know that the superstar helped a bed ridden fan take her first steps. Such is the true tale of Weda Ayubi from Amsterdam who was diagnosed with tumour at the age of 6 and couldn’t walk again; till SRK inspired her to do so.
Reportedly, Weda was diagnosed with tumour in her back at a young age and two surgeries left her at the mercy of the wheelchair. Doctors of Weda told her parents that she will never be able to walk again. However, Weda was determined that she would take the first steps of her life when she sees Shah Rukh Khan.
Weda’s dream came true when SRK came to Amsterdam in 2004. Weda who was 17 then was among the thousand others who had come to the airport to greet him. When Weda finally met SRK she told him to help her from the wheelchair in taking her first steps. And he gladly obliged.
This incident inspired Weda to work for herself and she joined a rehabilitation centre.
Post the first encounter, Weda met Shah Rukh a couple of times.
Speaking about her unconditional love for SRK, Weda told a leading daily that she always felt a special connection with the star. Her room was full of posters of him and on meeting him after waiting for years she gathered the confidence to try and overcome her disabilities.
Recently, Weda met King Khan when he was shooting in Amsterdam for his upcoming movie ‘The Ring’. He also met with Weda’s 8-month old daughter Maya and a picture of the three had gone viral.
