Milap Milan Zaveri's Satyameva Jayate, which released on Independence Day minted Rs 20.52 crore on its opening day. However, unfortunately, the John Abraham and Manoj Bajpayee starrer vigilante drama witnessed a big dip on day 2. This may be because the next day being Thursday was a regular office day. Trade analysts are expecting a rise in the business of the flick on weekends.

Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to mention that despite a decrease in its business, Satyameva Jayate's hold on single screens and mass belt remained strong.

This Independence Day clash between Akshay Kumar starrer Gold and Satyameva Jayate can be termed as one of the biggest box office clashes of 2018 so far. Both the movies perfectly cash in on the fervour of patriotism despite dealing with completely different storylines. While Reema Kagti's Gold was a fictional tale about India's historic win in 1948 Olympics, Satyameva Jayate revolved around uprooting corruption from the system. The action film is about a common man who takes pledge to teach a lesson to every corrupt policeman.

On a related note, Akshay Kumar's film, which also featured Mouni Roy, Vineet Kumar Singh and Amit Sadh in pivotal roles set cash registers ringing with a box office collection of Rs 27 crores.

Soon after the box office collection was out, Akshay fans started accusing Satyameva Jayate producer Bhushan Kumar of rigging the numbers of its first-day collection. 'Shame On Bhushan' began trending and several memes surfaced on Twitter.
