New Delhi: ‘Sarbjit’ - the Omung Kumar directorial has failed to live up to the audience expectations and ended up falling flat at the box office.
The movie starring Aishwarya Rai and Randeep Hooda in lead roles has managed to garner only Rs 16 crore since it released on May 20.
Trade analyst Taran Adrash tweeted about the movie’s four day collection:
The flick, which is a biopic on the life of Indian farmer Sarabjit Singh, has received bad reviews from the critics. Aishwarya’s narration of Dalbir Kaur, Sarbjit’s sister, has failed to impress the viewers. The former beauty couldn’t do justice with the role of a Punjabi native woman.
Sarbjit, Manjhi, Mary Kom and 4 other movies that became tax-free in UP before release
The only highlighting part about the movie was Randeep Hooda. The Haryanvi actor has got into the skin of the character to the T and ended up winning applauses from all around. His body transformation, accurate pronunciation and narration of role on the silver screen is truly commendable.
The real life Sarbajit Singh unknowingly entered the Pakistan territory in the year 1990 and was mistaken taken as Indian spy. He spent 20 years in the prison before being killed in May 2013.
