In 2017, the Irrfan Khan-starrer film, Hindi Medium struck the right chord with the audience and won critics' appreciation and fans' love. Now, the news is abuzz that the makers of Hindi Medium- Saket Chaudhary's satire on the education system in India are planning a sequel to the film.
Irrfan Khan who took home the Filmfare award for his performance in Hindi Medium in January 2017, has revealed that producer Dinesh Vijan is working on a sequel. It will flash-forward by a decade, with his 5-year-old daughter Pia now in her teens and is expected to roll in August.
According to the reports in a leading daily, while Irrfan Khan will return to play Raj Batra, a rich Delhi-based businessman, speculations are rife that Sara Ali Khan might be roped in to play his on-screen daughter in Hindi Medium 2.
While there are bright chances that things might materialize on this front as Saif Ali Khan has been Dinesh Vijan’s former business partner and the two have collaborated on various films. Also, Sara’s mother Amrita Singh had played the role of a Principal in Hindi Medium.
As per a source that reported the daily, “Sara is one of the top contenders to play the daughter.” While the report also stated that Pakistani actress Saba Qamar who made her debut with Hindi Medium is not likely to return for the sequel and the film will also have a new director. The original was directed by Saket Chaudhary.
When asked about the sequel, Dinesh told the daily, "I have just finished the script and I am going to get into the casting now."
Produced by Dinesh and T-Series head honcho Bhushan Kumar, Hindi Medium 2 will be a fresh take on the Indian educational system with little reference to the original.
