With his latest Bollywood film Sanju, Ranbir Kapoor has emerged as the new Box Office King of the Hindi cinema. The biopic based on the life of actor Sanjay Dutt has been weaving magic. The film directed by Rajkumar Hirani is dominating the box-office even in the fifth week of its release. Sanju, which hit the cinemas on June 29, is solid competition to new releases such as Dhadak, Mulk, Fanney Khan and Karwaan. Surprisingly, Sanjay Dutt’s own film Sahen Biwi Aur Gangster doomed at the box-office.
Sanju becomes third highest Bollywood grosser
The Sanjay Dutt biopic has crossed the lifetime business of Hirani’s own PK. Sanju’s collection now stands at Rs 341.22, crossing PK’s Rs 340.8 crore. Now Sanju is the third biggest Indian movie of all time, only behind Baahubali: The Conclusion’s Rs 510.99 crore and Dangal’s Rs 387.38 crore.

Sanju earns Rs 570 crore at worldwide box-office
The film has grossed Rs 430.50 crore (nett Rs 341.22 crore) in India and Rs 140 crore at the overseas box office. Sanju now stands with the grand total of Rs 570.50 crore at the worldwide box office. Though it’ll be difficult for the film to enter the Rs 600 crore club globally.

Sanju stars Ranbir Kapoor as Sanjay, and Paresh Rawal as his father, veteran actor Sunil Dutt, while the rest of the cast is filled out by Vicky Kaushal, Manisha Koirala, Dia Mirza, Anushka Sharma, Sonam Kapoor, and Boman Irani, each oif whom play an integral part of Sanjay's past and present.
