Salman Khan’s Tubelight featuring newbie Chinese actress Zhu Zhu and child artist Matin Rey Tangu, failed to gather much audience on Eid as well. Tubelight box-office collection on Eid was recorded quite lower than his previous films like Sultan, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Bodyguard.
Movie critic and business analysts, Taran Adarsh while revealing the Eid day collection of Tubelight said that generally Salman’s film set new records on the Eid day, but Tubelight has not performed well.
He tweeted, ‘’ #Tubelight has underperformed on Eid... Generally, Salman films set new records/do roaring biz on Eid, but it's an exception this time...’’
Sharing the collection details of Salman’s film, Taran said Tubelight has earned only Rs 19.09 cr on Eid, which was a surprising amount.
He also revealed the total collection made by Tubelight in its opening weekend. Taran shared the data on his microblogging site Twitter and wrote, ‘’#Tubelight Fri 21.15 cr, Sat 21.17 cr, Sun 22.45 cr, Mon 19.09 cr [Eid]. Total: ₹ 83.86 cr. India biz.’’
It was expected that Tubelight will pick on Monday that is on Eid festival, but the collection declined. Salman’s film was made with a budget of Rs 100 crore. And according to the reports of the Forbes NH Studios has paid as much as Rs 132 crore to get the theatrical rights of Tubelight in the domestic market. Salman’s film was released on 4350 screens in India while it was released on 1200 screens in the overseas market.
