New Delhi: Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s ‘Sultan’ has been one of the most anticipated movies of the year. The movie has been in the limelight since its inception and bagging a lot of attention much before its release.
Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, ‘Sultan’ also features Anushka Sharma in the lead role.
Interestingly, Salman and Anushka will be seen playing the role of wrestlers in ‘Sultan’ and the mind blowing trailer of the movie has indeed raised the excitement amongst the audience.
Everyone is eagerly waiting to watch Salman Khan aka Sultan in the akhada.
While the movie is all set to hit the theatres on July 6, it is expected that ‘Sultan’ might break several records at the box office soon after release.

Highest opening day collection
Salman Khan’s last two releases ‘Bajarangi Bhaijaan’ and ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ did a fantabulous business at the box office. BB earned Rs. 27.25 cr on its day of release, while PRDP minted Rs 40.35 cr on day one.
Interestingly, ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ turned out to be the highest opener of 2015, but it couldn’t break the record of Shah Rukh Khan’s 2014 release ‘Happy New Year’ which earned Rs. 44.97 on its day of release.
But it is expected the ‘Sultan’ will over take SRK’s HNY this year and will witness a remarkable opening
Highest earning sports based film
Bollywood is famous for its romantic movies and emotional family drama. However, there has been a change in the trend lately. Now the film makers aren’t hesitant in trying their hands on different genres including sports. Farhaan Akhtar’s ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ is one of the biggest grossers in this theme with a lifetime collection of Rs 103.50 crores. Now it is expected that ‘Sultan’ will break the record as it has Salman Khan in the lead playing a sportsman which has hardly been explored in Hindi films - wrestling.
Salman Khan’s biggest opener
In this 25 years of career Salman is credited to several super-hit movies. However, his biggest grosser till date has been 2015 release ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’. PRDP earned a whopping Rs. 40. 35 cr on its first day. But with the kind of aura ‘Sultan’ has created, it is expected that this Salman Khan starrer will break the record of PRDP to become the highest opener of the superstar.
Salman Khan’s 10th Movie to enter into coveted Rs 100 crore club
With Salman Khan enjoying a huge fan following, it is well expected for his movies to enter in the Rs 100 crore club. Post the release of ‘Wanted’ in 2009, Salman’s nine movies have crossed the Rs 100 cr mark, so far. Needless to say ‘Sultan’ too is expected to enter the coveted club to become his 10th movie to cross the magical number.
Anushka Sharma’s biggest hit
Anushka Sharma has carved a niche for herself in the industry in few years. The actress has shared the screen space with several leading actors and has given many successful movies. So far, her highest grossing movie has been 2104 release ‘PK’ opposite Aamir Khan. The movie made a lifetime collection of Rs 331 crore nett. However, it is said that Salman’s ‘Sultan’ might change the record to become biggest blockbuster ever in Anushka Sharma’s career.
