New Delhi: Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has always been the centre of some or the other controversy.
The actor recently sparked a debate after he was appointed as the goodwill ambassador of Rio Olympics 2016.
While sportsperson like Yogeshwar Dutt and Milkha Singh criticised his appointment, several B-town celebs came out in the support of the ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ actor.
And now the recent one to join the list of Salman Khan supporters is Abhishek Bachchan.
Junior Bachchan recently spoke about the ongoing Rio controversy and stated there isn’t anything wrong in Salman being the goodwill ambassador.
“I think if anybody wants to do some good and lend their support that's going to help the country, there is nothing wrong with it. I work with kabaddi and football teams, and I feel very passionately about it, so honestly, I feel we need more people to support sports in our country. I grew up watching movies on sports, too, and I think it had immense influence in my life,” Abhishek told a leading daily.
“Unfortunately, we haven't made many sports films in India. You can't make a sports documentary; it has to be a human story within that. The triumph of the human spirit (like in 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag') is a story that is always going to hit home and that's the one thing you're going to remember. This whole genre is waiting to be explored in our country and I would love do it,” he added.
Earlier, Salman’s ex-girlfriend Aishwarya too supported him in the matter saying, “I have to say that anyone who is doing good to represent the country or working or speaking or standing for the betterment of art, music or sports, is wonderful and the person needs to be recognised.”
On the work front, Salman Khan is gearing up for the release of his upcoming movie ‘Sultan’ in which he is playing the role of a wrestler. Also starring Anushka Sharma, the movie will hit the screens on Eid this year.
