New Delhi: Superstar Salman Khan has touched the life of a five year old cancer survivor in unthinkable ways. So much so, that her mother has written an open letter to the star requesting him to send birthday wishes to her little daughter through any medium he can, according to reports in media.

Ryka, who stays in Melbourne, was diagnosed with blood cancer or Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia when she was on a trip to India in 2013. The little girl, since then developed a hatred towards India because she blamed the sub-continent for her condition. Even mentioning India, used to tip Ryka off.

However, things changed for the better and Ryka celebrated her first cancer free birthday on April 29. In her open letter, Ryka’s mother has written that the child disliked all Bollywood films till she saw Salman’s blockbuster ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’. The mother has termed this as a ‘positive reinforcement’ for her child.

She wrote,

“I can’t express how relieved and grateful I am to see my child healthy, happy and so full of life. Last two years have been a nightmare for us but the way Ryka lights up when you are on screen, has to be seen to be believed. We were on a trip to India in December 2013 when she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL). Her little mind thought that her visit to India had given her the illness. When we finally brought her home, Ryka rejected everything related to India. She did not want to hear Indian music, she disliked talking to phone to people in India, she hated Indian shows on television, did not like us watching Indian movies (till she watched Prem Ratan Dhan Payo).”

Ryka, who was in awe of Salman’s sanskaari avatar in PRDP, has one wish now; that the star says ‘Happy Birthday’ to her. In her letter, Ryka’s mom added,

“All she wants for her fifth birthday is that you, her hero, Salman Khan wishes her ‘Happy Birthday’. You have not only been a positive reinforcement in Ryka’s life but also the reason behind Ryka accepting her Indian roots.”

Well, we think if Salman gets to know about Ryka, he will happily oblige.
