Bollywood actor Salman Khan has been convicted in 1998 blackbuck poaching case and sentenced for five years, however, the co-accused Saif Ali Khan, Tabu and Sonali Bendre have been acquitted of all the charges by Jodhpur Court.

Salman Khan and controversy have always gone hand in hand. Ever since he parted his ways with former beau AIshwarya Rai Bachchan, the actor has landed into soup for more than once. Over the past two decades, the Race 3 actor has been mired by a number of court cases including the 1998 blackbuck poaching case. Despite his eventful life, he has been the unbridled king of Bollywood. But on Thursday, 5th April, the destiny of Bollywood is on verge to be changed forever. Salman Khan has been convicted and sentenced for five years in jail in the blackbuck poaching case. Following this Bollywood might lose over Rs 1000 crore post his sentence.

Before briefing you on how Bollywood is on a verge of losing a whopping amount of money, let’s take a quick look at the infamous blackbuck poaching case of 1998.

Here’s all you need to know about 1998 Blackbuck Poaching Case

Do you remember the iconic family drama of 1990’s Hum Saath Saath Hain? During the filming of this flick, Salman Khan and the entire cast was in Jodhpur’s Kankani village. Salman Khan went allegedly hunting with co-stars Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Neelam and Tabu and reportedly killed a blackbuck, which is listed under ‘endangered species’ in India. The local Bishnoi community, which is known for their unparalleled love for animals, were angered by Khan’s audacity and they raised their voice against his act. Following the rage, a case was filed against Salman Khan and his co-stars.

Salman Khan and the others are charged under section 51 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act. He might face jail sentence between one to six years.

Race 3

Salman Khan will be seen in Remo D’Souza directorial Race 3,which is expected to hit the screens in June this year. It is the third instalment of superhit Race franchise which earlier had Saif Ali Khan as the male lead. Apart from Salman Khan, it also stars Jacqueline Fernandez, Saqib Saleem, Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor and Daisy Shah in important roles.

Bharat

Bharat is Salman Khan’s third collaboration with his Tiger Zinda Hai director Ali Abbas Zafar. Earlier, he had worked with the director in Anushka Sharma-starrer Sultan. Both of his films were massive hits and successfully crossed the coveted Rs 300-crore mark. Bharat is also supposed to be Zafar’s most proactive project. It also marks the return of Priyanka Chopra in Bollywood. Lots of eyes have been set on this film, but after Salman Khan’s conviction, there’s a huge question mark hanging on the existence of the film.

Dabanng 3

Dabanng 3 is the third instalment of Dabanng series which features Salman Khan as a cop. It will be directed by choreographer-turned-director Prabhudeva. The other two films were successful at the box office. The film was expected to release in January 2019 and expected to cross Rs 300 crore at the box office.

Kick 2

 Salman Khan will be working with Jacqueline Fernandez for the third time in Kick 2. Their Jodi seemed to have worked wonders with the Indian audience. The film was expected to release on Christmas 2019. The film is expected to easily cross the Rs 250-crore mark owing to the power-packed action and festive release.

Also, Salman Khan’s sentencing might make the smallscreens lose umpteen amount of money. He was slated to do the reality TV show Dus Ka Dum. The teaser of the show has already been released. Here’s the teaser.
