Shraddha Kapoor is on a winning spree. After her Rajkummar Rao film Stree bagged accolades both in terms of critical reception and box office number, the actress has now roped in the lead role in Saina Nehwal biopic. The 31-year-old actress stepping into the shoes of the Indian badminton player in the biopic helmed by Amole Gupte. On Saturday, Shraddha shared a picture from the biopic in which she’s surprisingly looking exactly like Saina Nehwal sporting a jersey with badminton in one hand. She’s flaunting the same aggression and enthusiasm which Nehwal demonstrates in the court.
Shraddha Kapoor is prepping up for the role for some time now. And going by this latest picture, it looks like the actress has successfully slipped right into the skin of character. While in her previous venture she donned a small town girl look with a little black bindi and Salwar Suit, she looked entirely different as Saina Nehwal in this latest picture. No one would have imagined that this cute-looking Aashiqui 2 girl would portray a Olympic medal winner badminton player on the celluloid.
Those who were a little sceptical of Shraddha Kapoor playing Saina Nehwal, this picture will wipe away all their doubts. No wonder why the actress was roped in for the role.
Talking about her upcoming film, Shraddha Kapoor said, “Saina is the country’s sweetheart, a champion and a youth icon. It’s a challenging role for an actor as it requires an immense amount of transformation.”
Shraddha Kapoor was last seen in Batti Gul Meter Chalu which tanked on the box office and also on critical level. It stars Shahid Kapoor in a lead role. However, her previous venture Stree came out to be a blockbuster at the box office. It has successfully crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in two weeks.
