New Delhi: Actors Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s marriage has been away from any kind of problems. They wed in 2012 and since then have been the adorable (read aww-dorable) couple.
But, little did anyone know that years ago, Saif Ali Khan was attached to another member of the Kapoor family. The Kapoors are treated as the first family of Bollywood and you may wonder why this news never saw the light of the day earlier.
Well, it did not then but now it has. In fact, Saif’s proximity to this another Kapoor was known to his mother Sharmila Tagore too.
Now, before you jump the gun, the aforementioned Kapoor is Shashi Kapoor.
Yes, Shashi Kapoor, the star of Bollywood who featured in gem of movies. This revelation by Sharmila Tagore was made to Aseem Chhabra, the writer of Shashi Kapoor‘s biography, Shashi Kapoor: The Householder, The Star.

Here is the excerpt from the book:
“Shashi and I were in Jaipur for Paap Aur Punya. My son, Saif, who was just two years old, was with me, as were Shashi’s wife and kids. The Kapoors would take my son around, and Shashi, I imagine, spent time playing with him – because soon, Saif grew quite attached to ‘Shashi Uncle’. One day, Shashi happened to be shooting a scene where a villain put a noose around his neck, while he yanked at the rope and struggled quite desperately. Suddenly, the villain, who was in complete command of the scene, screamed. Unknown to him, Saif had crawled up and bitten him on the leg. You see, Saif thought that his Shashi Uncle was being beaten up, was in huge danger and nobody was helping him. He had to act. Shashi Uncle was really his favourite.”
No wonder, Saif is a favourite of Kapoors. Now we know, he was protective of Shashi Kapoor much before Kareena.
