Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar’s biopic Sachin: A Billion Dreams and Hindi Medium featuring Irrfan Khan have been declared tax-free in Delhi. Both the films have received good response from the audience.
The Entertainment Tax Branch of the Delhi government issued orders yesterday, giving both movies a tax-free status here.
Sachin: A Billion Dreams has been written and directed by James Erskine and produced by Ravi Bhagchandka. It has been already declared tax-free in Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Kerala, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh.
The movie focuses on Sachin’s personal life and some unknown facts about him.
Hindi Medium, also starring Pakistani actress Saba Qamar, is also tax-free in Delhi, after being exempted of entertainment tax in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat. Both the actors were applauded for their wonderful performances in the film. Hindi Medium fought the box office battle with Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Half Girlfriend.
Directed by Saket Chaudhary, Hindi Medium is a satire on education system of the country where studying in English medium schools is considered a status symbol.
