Akshay Kumar’s recent release ‘Rustom’ is taking Bollywood by storm as it has already shattered as many as five box office records in less than a week.
The movie is based on a real life incident of Naval Officer K M Nanavati who had shot his wife’s lover thrice with his service revolver.
‘Rustom’ features Akki in the role of a naval officer opposite Ileana D’Cruz.
The movie, which was released on August 12, has got rave reviews from the audience.
While people are mesmerised by Akki’s charm in uniform, Ileana too managed to leave a mark in the movie.
With a strong story and stunning performances, ‘Rustom’ is indeed attracting the audience and is doing a commendable business at the box office.
In fact, Akshay’s crime thriller has already created 5 box office records with in a week of its release.

1. Second Highest Opening Weekend Grosser of 2016
Akshay’s ‘Rustom’ is earning gold at the box office and an extended weekend turned out to be a plus point for the movie. The movie earned Rs 68.23 crores in its opening weekend. With such a huge collection, ‘Rustom’ has become the second highest opening weekend grosser of 2016. Interestingly, it has surpassed the first weekend earning of Akshay’s ‘Housefull 3’, which has minted Rs 53.31 crores.
2. Fourth Highest Opener of 2016
‘Rustom’ has surpassed the first day collections of Akshay’s first release of the year ‘Airlift’ to become the fourth highest opener of 2016. ‘Airlift’ had minted Rs. 12.35 crores on its day of release, however, ‘Rustom’ created the record with a collection of Rs 14.11 crores.
3. Highest First Monday Collections of 2016
Though, quite unexpected, but ‘Rustom’ has beaten Salman Khan’s blockbuster ‘Sultan’ in first Monday collections. ‘Sultan’ had minted Rs 15.64 crores on its first Monday post release. However, ‘Rustom’ has surpassed its collections and has went on to mint Rs 17.81 crore, which is the highest first Monday collection for 2016.
4. Fifth Highest Opening Grosser for Akshay
‘Rustom’ made a collection of Rs. 14.11 crore on its first day and became the fifth highest opening day grosser of Akshay Kumar. So far his four highest first day grossing movies have been ‘Singh Is Bliing’ (Rs. 20.67 crore), ‘Housefull 3’ (Rs. 15.21 crore), ‘Brothers’ (Rs. 15.20 crore) and ‘Rowdy Rathore’ (Rs. 15.10 crore).
5. Fourth Highest Opening Weekend Grosser For Akshay
With a collection of Rs 68.23 crores, ‘Rustom’ has become the fourth highest opening weekend grossing movie for Akshay till date. His top three first weekend grosser so far are ‘Singh Is Bliing’ (Rs. 54.44 crore), ‘Housefull 3’ (Rs. 53.31 crore) and ‘Brothers’ (Rs. 52.08 crore).
