New Delhi: If there is one actor right now in Bollywood whose name wreaks success these days, it is superstar Akshay Kumar. No matter what genre he picks up, his movie do tremendous business at the box office. The superstar is celebrating his celebrating his 49th birthday today.
Over the years he has become synonymous to success in Bollywood. In fact, he did weave the same magic with his recent release ‘Rustom’.
Everyone knows that it is Akshay’s hard work which has now established him as one of the most sought actors of the film industry. His story has all elements of a rags to riches one.
While many of you know that Akshay Kumar’s original name is Rajiv Bhatia, little does anyone know why Khiladi Kumar chose this name? There happens to be a story behind that.
In the late 1980’s Akshay, then Rajeev Bhatia, was hired to play a Karate instructor in a Mahesh Bhatt movie Aaj. The protagonist of this movie was Kumar Gaurav, having a screen name Akshay. Though, Akshay had a blink and miss role, he was impressed by the role of Gaurav. A young Rajiv was so spellbound by his character that he decided that from now on he will use the name Akshay Kumar.

Interestingly, ‘Aaj’ was the first and last movie which carried Akshay’s original name Rajiv Bhatia in the credits.
With the 1991 release Saugandh, he never looked back and put his tears and soil in building the name Akshay Kumar; something which is evident now.
‘Rustom’, is the 125th movie of Akshay Kumar, which is a testimony in itself of his success. And by the way his career map is soaring high and it will definitely be a long way before he comes to a halt.
