Courtroom drama "Section 375", featuring Richa Chadha and Akshaye Khanna is set to hit the theatres on August 2, the makers announced Wednesday. According to a press release, the film is based on the important law that is applied to the rape cases in the country,
Richa plays a tough public prosecutor arguing for the victim, played by Meera Chopra and Akshaye will be seen in the role of a best-in-the-business defence lawyer to a film director, played by Rahul Bhatt.
As part of preparations for her role, Richa has started meeting law professors in Mumbai.
Earlier, she had visited some of the law firms to read books on law and to understand the nuances of the judicial procedure. The film Section 375 deals with some real-life incidents and how a critical section in law to protect women can also be misused.
"My character is that of a very driven and ethical lawyer. Hence, I wanted to see what drives people to take up litigation in the first place. That's why law schools were a good idea and spending time with them was of great help. The research came in handy and has been crucial," Richa said in a statement.
Directed by Ajay Bahl, "Section 375" is produced by Panorama Studios.
The film is presented by T-Series.
