Ranbir Kapoor is on cloud nine as he won the Best Actor Award at Filmfare Awards 2019 that took place few days ago. The award was even more special as he received along with his girlfriend Alia Bhatt, who bagged the title for her performance in Raazi. Coming out of the celebratory mood, Ranbir Kapoor has jumped back to his work. After completing shooting for Brahmastra, he is busy shooting for Shamshera, in which he’s playing a dacoit.
Another interesting report that has been doing rounds about the film. As per the reports, Ranbir Kapoor is going to have double role in the film. If the reports are anything to go by, this will be a first time for Ranbir to have a double-role in a film. A source told Mid-Day, “The film revolves around a dacoit tribe that is fighting for its rights and independence from the British Raj. Apart from playing the protagonist, Ranbir might also be seen as the central character's father. He has been shooting for both roles simultaneously. This is the first time in his 12-year-long career so far that Ranbir will play a double role."
For the uninitiated, Shamshera will have Ranbir Kapoor, Sanjay Kapoor, Vaani Kapoor in the lead roles. The actress, who featured in Befikre, is training hard in Kathak for the film. With Shamshera, Ranbir Kapoor is returning to YRF camp after Rocket Singh Salesman of the Year that came in 2009.
Shamshera is scheduled to release on 20th July 2020. It will clash with SS Rajamouli’s RRR. The Rajamouli film will have Alia Bhatt, Ram Charan, Jr NTR and Ajay Devgn in important roles. Also, Ranbir Kapoor will also be seen in Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra, which will hit the screens on Christmas this year. The film will have Alia Bhatt paired opposite him.
