The romantic comedy film Bareilly Ki Barfi hit the cinemas on August 18 amid huge expectations. Starring Rajkummar Rao, Ayushmann Khurrana and Kriti Sanon, the film paved way for a delightful watch clubbed with content driven story. The first day collection of Bareilly Ki Barfi is out. The Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari film has earned Rs 2.42 crore at the box-office on the first day of its opening. The film is a collaborative effort between the filmmaker Ashwiny, creative producer Juno Chopra and writer Nitesh Tiwari of Dangal fame and Shreyas Jain.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share the box-office collection of Bareilly Ki Barfi. “#BareillyKiBarfi Fri ₹ 2.42 cr. India biz... Fared better in North India”, he wrote.

The comedy-romance is produced by Junglee Pictures and BR Studios. This is the first time Kriti, Ayushmann and Rajkummar have worked together.

Kriti had earlier said: "Since they come from a theatre background, their approach towards a character is quite similar and that helped me to enhance my performance; because acting is also about reacting to your co-actors."

The movie is inspired by the English translation of a French book, titled Ingredients of Love and makes a smooth shift from Paris (in the novel) to Bareilly. The film follows the life of a small-town girl who lives her life on her own terms. Contrary to the prejudices about an 'Adarsh Naari', she smokes, drinks and comes home late every night-just like a boy; that's how she was brought up by her dad.
