The divorce proceedings of Rajinikanth’s daughter Soundarya and her husband Ashwin Ramkumar has been finalised by Chennai family court on Tuesday, fresh reports suggest. The couple, who were reportedly living separately for seven months, couldn’t settle their matters, hence the court granted them divorce, according to a Times of India report. Ashwin and Soundarya filed for divorce grounds of difference of opinion by mutual consent.
The couple got married in 2010 and have a four-year-old child, Ved. While the terms of settlement haven't been revealed, the entire divorce proceedings are said to have been hassle-free.
However, it is not known yet who won the custody of their son but the terms of their separation and details about the custody of the two-year-old son Ved are unknown. Their lawyers said that Soundarya and Ashwin had been living separately for about seven months now and "their misunderstanding over various issues reached a point of no return earlier than that”, the report said.
In September 2016, Soundarya Rajinikanth took to her official Twitter handle and confirmed her separation from her husband Ashwin. She wrote, "News about my marriage is true. We have been separated for over a year and divorce talks are on. I request all to respect my family's privacy."
Ashwin Ramkumar is a Chennai-based industrialist and Soundarya is a graphic designer. She has also worked in several Tamil movies such as Sivaji, Sandakozhi and Baba. She is also known for directing her father in Kochadaiiyaan, which is India's first motion capture 3D Tamil film.
