Ajay Devgn's thriller Raid which opened to a massive Rs 10.04 crore on day 1 witnessed a decline on the start of week 2. The film which is slowly inching towards the much-hyped Rs 100 crore club saw a dip post-release of Rani Mukerji's Hichki. Raj Kumar Gupta's directorial which earned Rs. 4.66 crore on Thursday, minted Rs. 3.55 crore on Friday. However, trade analyst Girish Johar believes that Hichki will not affect Raid's business as both the films are completely from different genre.
Sharing the box office collection on Day 8, Taran Adarsh tweeted, ''#Raid faces a decline at the start of Week 2, but is DECENT nonetheless… Should witness an upward trend on Sat and Sun… [Week 2] Fri 3.55 cr. Total: ₹ 66.60 cr. India biz.'' Raid is the second highest opening week grosser of 2018 after Padmaavat. Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film minted Rs 166.50 crore in its extended first week.
Meanwhile, Rani Mukerji's comeback film performed well on its opening day, minting Rs. 3.30 crore. Taran Adarsh tweeted, ''Hichki settles and cements its status as Day 1 progresses... Records better occupancy post evening onwards... Sat and Sun expected to witness escalation in biz... Fri ₹ 3.30 cr [961 screens]. India biz.''
Raid is inspired by high profile income tax raids that were conducted in the 80s. Saurabh Shukla and Ileana D'Cruz starrer received good response from critics and audience alike. However, whether Raid will continue its performance or not will be known in the second week.
