Raid Box Office Collection Day 1: Ajay Devgn starrer becomes third highest opener of 2018

Ajay Devgn plays income tax officer in Raid

Ajay Devgn, Ileana D'Cruz and Saurabh Shukla starrer Raid has embarked on its journey on an impressive note. Raj Kumar Gupta's directorial has become third highest opener of 2018 with box office collection of Rs 10.04 crore on Day 1. The two films which earned more than it on first day are Padmaavat and PadMan.

Though it witnessed slow start in morning, Raid saw a jump post noon. The movie is expected to do good business in its first weekend. Taran Adarsh took to micro-blogging site, Twitter to post film's collection. ''After an ordinary start in morning shows, #Raid jumped post noon onwards… Evening/night shows saw super growth… A double digit start for a non-masala, realistic film is heartening… Strong word of mouth should boost numbers on Sat and Sun… Fri ₹ 10.04 cr. India biz,'' he wrote.

Raid tells the story of an upfront income tax officer Amay Patnaik, played by Ajay Devgn who conducts raid at Uttar Pradesh politician's place. Set in the era of the 80s, songs of the movie have already gone popular.

As far as director Raj Kumar Gupta is concerned, he has always helmed movies with strong messages like Aamir and No One Killed Jessica. On the work front, Ajay Devgn will next be seen in Anees Bazmee and Indra Kumar's comedy flicks.
