After releasing in India, superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Raees’ and actor Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Kaabil’ may soon hit the screens in Pakistan. A special committee formed by Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has cleared both the movies for screening in local cinemas.
Indian Motion Picture Producers Association put a ban on Pakistani artists after the massive Uri attack, following which film distributers in Pakistan refrained to screen Bollywood films in their country.
If fresh reports turn out to be true then ‘Raees’ and ‘Kaabil’ will become first two movies to release there after a ban.
According to the latest media report the PM is likely to give no-objective certificate for the screening of the movies. Both the movies will be released by Hum Films and Eveready Pictures in the neighbouring country.
A senior official at Hum Films was reported saying that after the Prime Minister issued NOC, it is expected to take two days to screen movies in Pakistan.
It was previously reported that banning Hindi films in the industry had severely affected the business of local theatre owners who were suffering from financial strain. Thus, a committee was formed for the clearance of Indian movies to be screened in Pakistan.
In India, Pakistani actress Mahira Khan who played the female lead in ‘Raees’ was kept away from the promotions to avoid controversies.
Along with SRK and Mahira, ‘Raees’ also features Nawazuddin Siddiqui whereas ‘Kaabil’ stars Yami Gautam alongside Hrithik Roshan.
