In 2017, we witnessed several big Bollywood box-office clashes such as Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees Vs Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil and Kangana Ranaut’s Simran Vs Farhan Akhtar’s Lucknow Central. However, 2018 Eid will see one of the most surprising box-office battles of them all as Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan are set to have a face-off. Yes! Salman’s Race 3 and Aishwarya’s Fanney Khan will both release on Eid 2018. We all know that the Dabangg Khan always books the festival season of Eid.
Even though this year’s Eid release Tubelight didn’t spell any Salman Khan magic, it looks like Salman’s box-office clash with ex-girlfriend Aishwarya will hog all the limelight.
"It will be an exciting clash, since Aishwarya and Salman's relationship continues to hold the audience's attention, even years after it went kaput. While Salman boasts of tremendous box-office pull, Ash and Anil too have a huge fan following and will draw the audience to the theatres”, a source was quoted as saying to Mid-day.
The makers Fanney Khan consulted with Aishwarya and Anil Kapoor, who also plays a lead role in the film, before finalizing the release date, the source added. “Arjun N Kapoor, Prernaa Arora, Bhushan Kumar and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra met Aishwarya and Anil, who were happy to have a festival release. The team is aware of Race 3 also releasing on Eid, but they are confident of their film”, the source said.
Producers of Fanney Khan have released a joint statement saying, "We have locked the release date of Fanney Khan on Eid 2018 (June 15). We decided on Eid because the lead character Fanney Khan, played by Anil Kapoor, is a Muslim character and there's no better day than Eid to release the film”.
Salman Khan starrer Race 3 is directed by Remo D'Souza and also stars Jacqueline Fernandez, Bobby Deol and Daisy Shah.
On the other hand, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer Fanney Khan is the official Indian remake of the Dutch film Everybody’s Famous. The film also stars Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao in pivotal roles.
