Ever since the trailer of Raazi came out, it’s getting harder to wait for the film to release. The Meghna Gulzar directorial has given more than one reasons to watch this film. A versatile star cast including Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, beautiful locales of Kashmir, a true story and last but not the least, heart-touching songs penned by none other than Gulzar himself. On Thursday, the makers dropped another song from the album- Dilbaro.
The song starts with Kashmiri lyrics, which translate to, “I am the darling/pampered daughter
Please bid me farewell, my darling brother”
In the lyrics, beautifully penned by Gulzar, a soon-to-be-wedded daughter is narrating her pain of leaving her father’s house to live with her husband. The song is filmed against the backdrop of Alia Bhatt aka Sehmat’s nuptials to a Pakistani officer. The new bride is heartbroken as well as worried about leaving her homeland and her father’s house.
The song plays in the background while Sehmat exchanges wedding vows with Iqbal Syed played by Vicky Kaushal. Sehmat’s mother is seen pacifying her daughter who’s embarking on her mission to save her motherland’s pride. (Sehmat is married to a Pakistani soldier just to bring classified information from the Pakistan Army to India).
Penned by Gulzar, composed by Shankar Ehsaan Loy, Raazi’s new song Dilbaro will strike the right chords of all the women who have left their parents’ abode to start a new life with their husband. Harshdeep Kaur, Vibha Saraf and Shankar Mahadevan have lent their vocals to this brilliantly composed song and added charm to it.
Raazi is Meghna Gulzar’s upcoming movie which is based on Harinder Sikka’s novel Calling Sehmat. It narrates the real life story of a Kashmiri spy Sehmat, who is married off to a Pakistani officer to bring classified information to India. Alia Bhatt is playing the role of Sehmat while Vicky Kaushal will be featuring as Iqbal Syed. The film is slated to release on May 11, 2018.
