Tollywood filmmaker Dil Raju and four others have landed themselves in a legal trouble for plagiarising the story of a Telegu novelist for helming Mr Perfect, which has Saaho actor Prabhas in lead role. A case has been filed against the maker under the Copy Rights Act on Saturday. According to writer Shyamala Rani, she wrote a book named Na Manasu Ninnu Kore in 2010. Mr Perfect came out in 2011 which is based on her novel and the filmmakers have used her novel without permission.
She reached Miyapur court accusing Dil Raju and four others of cheating. Following the complaint, the court has directed the Madhapur police to file a case against Dil Raju, co-producers Sirish and Lakshman, director K Dasarath and dialogue writer Abburi Ravi. Four sections have been imposed on the makers, including conspiracy and cheating.
Talking to a daily, Shyamala told that she was unable to sell the story of her novel to Tamil producer. When she saw Mr Perfect, she realised that her story has been stolen.
“While I was watching `Mr Perfect’ in 2013 on television, I found several dialogues and scenes were copied from my novel,” she said, according to a report in Times Of India.
Mr Perfect featured Prabhas, Kajal Aggarwal and Taapsee Pannu in lead roles. It follows the story of an eccentric man played by Prabhas who eventually realises the importance of family and relationships. It became a massive hit in 2011.
Dil Raju is one of the most celebrated producers in the Tamil film industry. He has many hit films in his kitty. His last two films DJ Duvvada Jagannadhamm and Fidaa, released earlier this year raked in fair amount of money on box office. Currently, he is bankrolling Ravi Teja’s upcoming Raja The Great and also obtained the theatrical rights of the most anticipated Telegu films including Jai Lava Kusa, Spyder and Superstar Pawan Kalyan’s PSPK 25.
