Anushka Sharma’s Pari hit the theatres on March 2 and it has managed to scare the living daylights out of everyone who has watched the movie till now. The first day box office collection of Pari, which also stars Parambrata Chatterjee earned Rs. 4.36 crore. Cinegoers especially suckers for horror movies had a lot of expectations from Pari. After looking at the trailer and the small clips many were sure that this one is going to be a game changer when it comes to Hindi horror movies. However, the box-office report for this Anushka Sharma starrer is rather ordinary.
Film critic and trade analyst took to Twitter and said, “#Pari has an ORDINARY WEEKEND... Growth in biz, especially on Sat and Sun, wasn’t substantial... Plexes of major centres showed better trending... Fri 4.36 cr, Sat 5.47 cr, Sun 5.51 cr. Total: ₹ 15.34 cr. India biz”.
Directed by Prosit Roy, Pari tells the story of Arnab (Parambrata Chatterjee), who gives refuge to Rukhsana (Anushka Sharma), a mysterious woman found shackled in the woods, after her mother is killed in an accident involving his family. Rukhsana is hunted by a mob of men led by Dr Qasim Ali (Rajat Kapoor). Is there more to her than meets the eye?
Pari has been getting mixed reviews from critics. Anushka's husband Virat Kohli called it "one of the best films I've seen in a long time" and said that it was her "best work ever".
After NH10 and Phillauri, Pari is Anushka Sharma’s third production venture.
