After many hurdles, ‘Padmavati’ finally goes on floors

After making it to the news almost every other day for some reason or another, the filming of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus ‘Padmavati’ has finally started. The movie stars Deepika Padukone in the lead

After many hurdles, ‘Padmavati’ finally goes on floors

After making it to the news almost every other day for some reason or another, the filming of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus ‘Padmavati’ has finally started. The movie stars Deepika Padukone in the lead role of Rajput queen Padmavati and features Shahid Kapoor as Raja Ratan Singh.

Bhansali’s favourite Ranveer Singh is essaying the role of Alauddin Khilji, the medieval-era Delhi sultan, who falls in love with Padmavati.

Since the movie was announced it became a topic for discussion. Firstly, the finalising of the actors for the movie lead its way to the headlines, then reports of tiff between SLB and his blue eyed boy Ranveer did rounds of media. After lot of hurdles in the path, the movie has finally gone on floors.

Shobha Sant, the CEO of Bhansali productions made it official by tweeting her excitement about it. Her tweet read as, ” #GanpatiBappaMorya! #Excited. #Nervous. #NewBeginning.” Ain’t that cool?”

A picture of the clap board from the set of the movie was circulating online.

Sudeep Chatterjee is the director of photography for the movie.

While Ranveer and Deepika have worked with Bhansali before in Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela and Bajirao Mastani, it is the first time that Shahid will be directed by the filmmaker.
