Akshay Kumar is currently basking in the success of his recent release PadMan. Produced by Twinkle Khanna, PadMan is a biographical drama based on an entrepreneur Arunachalam Muruganantham's life.
PadMan also featured Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor in pivotal roles. Akshay’s film, which is based on an educative subject menstrual hygiene, made a total collection of Rs 71.90 crore till Monday.
In the film, Akshay has essayed the role of an entrepreneur Arunachalam, who discovered a way of making low-cost sanitary pads especially for the women in rural areas.
Interestingly, Akshay was recently asked about his son Aarav’s reaction after watching PadMan. In response to which Akshay said, ‘’When my son watched PadMan, he came up to me, patted me on my back and said, Dad, good job!”
Akshay earlier in an interview to a leading daily, talking about his film said, “It’s not just a film or acting for me. Once the film releases, it doesn’t mean my job is over. In about four-five days, I will shoot a documentary for the Government about sanitation. Even Bhumi (Pednekar) has been asked to do it as a public service. I decided to take it up because I believed in it. I can’t even talk about what I’ve seen, read or heard about traditional menstruation practices. Around 42 crore women don’t use sanitary pads. Even if it changes three, five or 10 percent, I would consider it great.”
