Renowned cinematographer Roger Deakins finally made his debut at Oscars 2018 after getting nominated for 14 times in the category. The director of photography accepted his Oscar's statuette on Sunday at the 90th Academy Awards for his 2017 work, 'Blade Runner 2049'.
The 64-year-old British artist expressed his love for his job in his acceptance speech.
He said, "I've been doing it a long time, as you can see. But one of the reasons I love it is the people I work with. Some of my crew on Blade Runner I've been working with for 20 years. This is for every one of them".
Renowned filmmaker of Bollywood, Anurag Kashyap, on learning the news, took to Twitter to shed light on the fact that after umpteenth nominations, Roger Deakins finally gets acknowledged at the 90th Academy Awards.
In his tweet, he wrote, “Isn't this Roger Deakins' umpteenth nomination and first win #BladeRunner2049”
Incidentally, Deakins' first Oscar nomination came for his 1994's movie 'The Shawshank Redemption', followed by 13 more nominations, till he got his first golden statuette in 2018.
Anurag Kashyap is currently working on his upcoming film Manmarziyaan, which stars Abhishek Bachchan. With Anurag Kashyap directorial, the Guru actor will be facing camera after two years. The team is currently in Punjab for shooting. It stars Taapsee Pannu in female lead role.
