Varun Dhawan and Banita Sandhu’s latest release October, which opened to rave reviews from all quarters, has picked up well on day 2.  The Shoojit Sircar film witnessed a grand 48.21 per cent growth on the second day of its release.  Unlike Varun's movies, October is an unconventional love story with a sad undertone. The film lacks commercial elements, and hence it's not fair to expect it to run like his previous films. Moreover, the screen count is also very less for October.

Trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh wrote on Instagram, “#October shows a SUPER 48.21% GROWTH on Sat... Metros/plexes are clearly contributing heavily to the revenue... Should continue the upward trend on Sun... Fri 5.04 cr, Sat 7.47 cr. Total: ₹ 12.51 cr. India biz”.

Interestingly named, the movie October saw Shoojit Sarkar at the helm as director while the script has been written by Juhi Chaturvedi. The duo has worked on movies like Piku and Vicky Donor in the past. The movie also has Sandhu making her debut.

Film and trade analyst Girish Johar had earlier stated that the film might do wonders at the box office, thanks to Varun’s status as a bankable star. “Though October is not the typical masala film, Varun has had a good track record at the box office”, Johar had said.

The music of the movie has been given by renowned music directors Shantanu Moitra, Anupam Roy and Abhishek Arora. The music is already doing rounds on various radio stations as well. The trailers suggest that the movie has its shades of grey, however, given the track record of director Shoojit Sarkar’s handling of sensitive topics, October is a romantic-drama.
