After charming audience with her character in popular TV series Naagin, Mouni Roy is heading towards Bollywood. And Khiladi Kumar Akshay has roped in Mouni for his forthcoming film Gold.
As per the latest report of Mumbai Mirror, Mouni, who was seen doing a cameo in Anubhav Sinha’s directorial Tum Bin 2, will now be seen performing a full fledge role in Akshay’s film Gold.
Akshay’s Gold is a sports drama and will also see Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani in pivotal roles. The film will be directed by Reema Kagti.
Revealing details about his film Gold, Akshay had earlier said that his film release in 2018 on Independence Day. Talking about the storyline of Gold, Akshay said the film is set in the backdrop of 1948 and is a historical drama which will showcase event of India's first Olympic medal after Independence.
Sharing more about Mouni's character, a source informed, "Mouni will be seen in a completely different avatar to suit the era. She will shoot for the film for 20-25 days in August and is one of the few female characters in the otherwise male dominated narrative. She will be shooting extensively with Akshay."
The source further added that the script of Gold is written by Rajesh Devraj. The film is about human drama and will showcase more of hockey, the source said. ‘’Gold follows 12 crucial years in India's history as well," added the source.
